Design Menu in Microsoft Word 2019

The Design tab is used to make your document look attractive by changing themes, colors, fonts, page background, and page borders.

The Themes group is used to apply a complete ready-made design to the document.

  • Themes: Applies ready-made styles to the whole document.
  • Theme Colors: Changes the overall color palette.
  • Theme Fonts: Changes the font style used in the document.
  • Theme Effects: Changes the visual effects of shapes and objects.

This section helps you control the spacing and look of the document.

  • Paragraph Spacing: Adjusts the space between lines and paragraphs.
  • Set as Default: Saves the current settings for future documents.

The Page Background group is used to change the appearance of the page.

  • Watermark: Adds faint background text like Confidential or Draft.
  • Page Color: Changes the background color of the page.
  • Page Borders: Adds a border around the page.
