In this lesson, you will learn how to create, edit, publish, and manage pages on a WordPress website.
A page is used to display content that does not usually depend on a regular publishing date. Pages are commonly used for important sections of a website.

WordPress provides a block editor for creating page content. Each element, such as a paragraph or image, can be added as an individual block.
| Block | Use |
|---|---|
| Heading | Add titles and section headings. |
| Paragraph | Write normal text. |
| Image | Display images on a page. |
| Columns | Arrange content in multiple columns. |
| Buttons | Create links styled as buttons. |
| List | Display items in an ordered or unordered list. |
| Cover | Display content over a background image or color. |
To make changes to an existing page:
A draft is an unpublished page that you can continue editing later. It is useful when your content is not ready for visitors.
For example, you can start creating a Services page today, save it as a draft, and finish it later.
Publishing makes a page available according to its visibility settings.
The homepage is the main page visitors see when they open your website's root address.
To set a static homepage:
The exact setting location can vary slightly depending on the WordPress version and your site's configuration.
WordPress allows you to organize pages in a hierarchy. A child page belongs to a parent page.
Example page structure:
To create a child page:
A page URL, also called a permalink, identifies the location of a page on your website.
For example:
WordPress generally creates a URL based on the page title. You can edit the URL slug using the page settings.
Choose a short, descriptive slug. If you change the URL of an existing page, update any links that point to the old URL and consider setting up a redirect.
WordPress provides visibility options that control who can access a page.
| Visibility | Description |
|---|---|
| Public | The page is generally accessible to visitors. |
| Private | The page is restricted to authorized users with suitable permissions. |
| Password Protected | Visitors need the assigned password to view the page content. |
To delete a page:
A page moved to the Trash can generally be restored from the Trash before it is permanently deleted.
